ASPEN — The Roaring Fork Valley is on pace to set a record for home sales in 2004 after a three-year slump.
Sales through the Aspen Board of Realtors Multiple Listing Service topped $652 million through June 30, with the busier part of the year still to come.
If the pace holds, sales would top the record $1.2 billion reported in 2000.
“We’re definitely on a record pace. There’s no way around it,” said real estate agent Bob Ritchie, a partner in Coates, Reid and Waldron.
Sales through the Aspen MLS hit $1.31 billion for the 12-month period ending June 30, up 69 percent from the prior 12-month period, Ritchie said.
Of 105 single-family homes sold in Aspen in the last year, the average sale price was $3.65 million, Ritchie said. That is up 4 percent from the average price in the previous 12-month period.
