Mardi Gras Casino Night coming to Boulder County Fairgrounds on February 11
Rotary Fundraiser to Benefit Hurricane Katrina, Dental Aid and Mountain States Children’s Home
On Saturday night, February 11, dice will roll and cards will fall at the bigger and better Mardi Gras Casino Night, a fundraiser organized by Twin Peaks and Longmont Rotary clubs. Fat City, a renowned New Orleans style band, will perform. Proceeds from the event will go to the Hurricane Katrina Relief by way of Rotary District 6200 in Louisiana, plus two local charities: Dental Aid and Mountain States Children’s Home.
The charity event will be held Saturday, February 11 at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in the Exhibit Hall, from 7:00 p.m. to 12 midnight. Tickets for the Mardi Gras Casino Night are available on line on Longmont Rotary’s web site: www.longmontrotary.org. Admission to the community event is $30 per person if purchased in advance ($40 at the door). Tickets may also be purchased from Rotary club members and at Loaf & Ladle, Monday-Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 1134 Francis Street in Longmont. Fifty percent of the ticket proceeds goes to the designated charities.
Partygoers will be able to play an assortment of games including blackjack, roulette and craps. Additional chips will be available for purchase. Trained volunteers from the two Rotary clubs will work as blackjack dealers; craps and roulette will be run by the gaming company.
The band “Fat City” will play the “best of Mardi Gras, including all the great music of the Mississippi Delta,” according to the band’s web site. Musical styles will include everything from Dixieland to brass band, from Cajun and Zydeco music to blues and gospel.
Louisiana-style food will be available for purchase, prepared by Loaf & Ladle of Longmont. 100% of the proceeds will go to a family displaced by Hurricane Katrina now living in Longmont.
