The Associated Press

DENVER — Qwest Communications International Inc. said Wednesday it was adding 500 customer service and sales jobs in 11 states to improve customer service.

Qwest had 49,878 employees as of March 31.

The Denver company said it was seeking college graduates with sales or customer service experience for full-time jobs in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

The jobs were in addition to 600 representatives who completed training last year, Qwest said.

“Customer service is Qwest’s No. 1 priority,” said Annette Jacobs, executive vice president, consumer markets group.

Also Wednesday, Qwest agreed to pay $14 million for the naming rights to Omaha’s new arena and convention center, officials said Wednesday.

The complex will be known as Qwest Center Omaha.
