Tuesday Morning has other targets
The Daily Times-Call
Tuesday Morning targets more affluent consumers — with an average household income is $62,000 — and does business just 250 days a year.
In lieu of workaday retail hours, the company instead stages seven or eight sales events to showcase items including china, crystal, decorative accessories and seasonal gifts discounted between 50 and 80 percent. The Web site explained that staggered store openings allow Tuesday Morning’s buyers to comb the globe for closeout merchandise — even though it claims to sell no seconds, factory rejects or irregulars. Company copy also explained that the odd-hours strategy “intensifies our customers’ sense of urgency.”
Founded in 1971, the Dallas-based chain currently runs more than 500 stores nationwide and boasts about its selective labor reductions and Spartan sales floors. Tuesday Morning has reported its average rent at $8.65 per square foot.
