LONGMONT -- Formal charges against Ramsey -family host Jay Elowsky were delayed Friday while his attorney continues to investigate the restaurant owner's alleged outburst against reporters.
The Pasta Jay's owner could face felony menacing charges and carrying a concealed weapon for the Feb. 10 incident in which Elowsky allegedly threatened reporters with an aluminum baseball bat.
Elowsky has apparently been providing housing to John and Patricia Ramsey since their daughter JonBenet was found dead in her Boulder home Dec. 26.
Three reporters said Elowsky swung the baseball bat in a threatening manner while telling them to leave the area.
Elowsky arrived at the Boulder County Jail hearing with his attorney and asked for a continuance. Judge Thomas Reed granted the request and rescheduled the hearing until Feb. 25.
After the hearing, Elowsky prepared to walk past a long line of cameras stationed outside the jail.
``I'm not going to make a comment at this time,'' he said to a small group of reporters in the lobby.
Showing none of the alleged anger at the media, Elowsky added a brief and cordial, ``But thanks. Thanks.''
