Jan. 1, 2007: Put together an emergency stash of the drug prescriptions, medications and medical equipment which are essential to you. This should include an extra month of prescription medication, a list of the medications you take (both prescription and non-prescription), their dosages and any allergies you have, and anything else you rely on such as extra eyeglasses and hearing aids, wheelchair batteries and oxygen.
Contact your insurance provider - tell them you are preparing an emergency kit and ask them how they will help you pay for these items which are covered by your policy, particularly prescription drugs. As soon as you receive this information, contact your doctor's office to let them know that you want their help to accomplish this goal.
