December 2, 2004
10 a.m.-9 p.m.— 39th Annual Longmont Christmas Home Tour, sponsored by First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ. Advance tickets, $10, available at Twin Peaks Mall information booth, 1250 S. Hover St.; Daily Times-Call classified desk, 350 Terry St.; First Congregational Church office, 1500 Ninth Ave. On days of tour, tickets cost $15. For more information, call 303-776-4940.

4-7 p.m. — Santa meets children, Dickens Store, 15th and Pearl streets, Boulder.

5:30-9 p.m.— Festival of Trees, Grace Place Church, 250 Mountain Ave., Berthoud. Winners of the silent auctions for the trees will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Proceeds help local needy families purchase Christmas presents. Also, carolers will stroll through the streets of Berthoud and hay rides will be available.

6 p.m. — Santa visits with children, Chamber of Commerce, 901 Main St., Louisville. Local schools and churches provide musical entertainment; living manger and petting zoo available.

7 p.m. — Louisville Parade of Lights, starting on Main Street at Parkview Street, going north to South Street.

7:30 p.m. — Diverse Passions and soloists from the St. Martin’s Chamber Choir perform music from 14th-century Europe at Grace Lutheran Church, 13th and Euclid streets. Admission $15, $12 students and seniors.

8 p.m. — Parade of Lights, Denver, starting at the City and County Building at 14th and Bannock streets. The parade travels west on 14th Street to Tremont Place and turns right; turns left on 17th Street; turns left on Arapahoe Street; turns left on 15th Street to Glenarm Place; turns right on Glenarm Place; and finishes at 14th Street and Glenarm Place. Grandstand seats available in front of the City and County Building for $12-$15. Otherwise, the event is free.

6-9 p.m. — Blossoms of Light at the Denver Botanic Gardens, 1005 York St., Denver, showcasing an illuminated 12 acres, featuring carolers, dancers and other festive sights. Through Jan. 23. Call 720-865-3500.

9 a.m. — Breakfast Tea at the historic Hoverhome, 1309 Hover St., including a tour of Hoverhome. Cost $16; reservations are required. Call 303-774-7810.

9 a.m.-3 p.m. — Festival of Trees, Grace Place Church, 250 Mountain Ave. Winners of the silent auctions for the trees will be announced at 2:30 p.m. Proceeds help local needy families purchase Christmas presents. The Mountain View Presbyterian Church bell choir performs, 9:45 a.m.

10 a.m.-5 p.m. — Annual Christmas Bazaar, Lyons Elementary Gym, Fourth and Stickney avenues, Lyons.

10:30 a.m. — Niwot Christmas Parade, starting at Second Avenue and Murray Street in Niwot. Also, an open house will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Niwot Caboose near Second Avenue, where a trio of young fiddle players will entertain guests.

11 a.m.-4 p.m. — Holiday Home Tour, an annual tour of five homes in the Estes Park area decked out in holiday finery. Tickets $12 in advance or $15 the day of the tour. Tickets and maps to the homes available at the Estes Park Information Center, 500 Big Thompson Ave., at the intersection of U.S. highways 34 and 36.

Noon-4 p.m., 5-6:30 p.m. — Santa meets children, Dickens Store, 15th and Pearl streets, Boulder.

2 p.m. — Old World Christmas: Colorado’s Past, The Estes Park Museum, 200 Fourth St., an illustrated slide show on the history of Christmas presents and Santa Claus. Learn how to decorate a Victorian Christmas tree.

2 p.m. — Colorado Children’s Chorale concert, Boettcher Concert Hall, 14th and Curtis streets, Denver. Call 303-893-4100 or visit www.denvercenter.org. Adults, $15-30; students and seniors, $11 - $26.

5 p.m. — Parade of Lights, Mountain Avenue, Berthoud.

6 p.m. — Lights of December parade, beginning and ending at 15th and Pearl streets, Boulder. Local Olympians will serve as grand marshals.

6 p.m. — Parade of Lights, Denver, starting at the City and County Building at 14th and Bannock streets. 10 a.m. Santa arrives at Times-Call to pick up his mail. Santa shows up in a vintage fire truck to pick up the letters children have dropped into his mailbox at the Times-Call and pose for pictures.

Noon-4, 5-7 p.m. — Santa meets children, Dickens Store, 15th and Pearl streets, Boulder.

2 p.m. — “A Royal Wedding,” Silver Creek High School’s third annual madrigal dinner, at the high school, 4901 Nelson Road. $10 adults; $8 seniors and students (general seating only). The matinee also features a holiday tea. Call 720-494-3721.

2-5 p.m. — Santa arrives in Erie, at the Christmas tree on the 500 block of Briggs Street. Hayrides will be available, and candy canes and hot apple cider will be served free.

4:30 and 6 p.m. — “Word on the Street,” a modern play centered on Mary and Joseph, at LifeBridge Church, 10345 Ute Highway.

5 p.m. — Hometown Holiday Parade, with the theme “Toys on Parade,” on Main Street from Third Avenue to Seventh Avenue, Longmont. Weather permitting, fireworks follow at 6 p.m.
