Kristin St. John helps Olivia Thramann, foreground left, and Darby Patterson find their correct "pretzel arms" position, as they practice the Russian dance from the Nutcracker during the combo ballet/tap class for 4-year-olds at the Longmont Dance Theatre.  St. John, artistic director and owner of the dance theatre, started the tradition of dressing in costumes for dance class when Longmont Dance Theatre opened in 1998. "The kids totally look forward to it every October. They start talking about it October 1st," she said.
