After a year of analyzing the role of the Longmont Community Foundation in the St. Vrain Valley it was determined that its role is to provide support for local non-profits to do their job and accomplish their goals as set forth by their boards and staff. It was determined that there are three areas that non-profits too often leave unattended because of lack of funds. These three areas are staff development, technology and public awareness.

Alternatives for Youth

$2,000 from the Attention Home Fund and LCF Community Grants Fund

Staff Development

Gift will provide for an annual staff retreat in the fall of 2007 with professional facilitator to cultivate a unified staff and provide opportunity for individual staff members to train in areas of specific interest.

Center for People with Disabilities

$500 LCF Community Grants Fund

Staff Development

Money for Longmont staff to participate in Region 8 Independent Living Conference in Casper, Wyoming in June 2007.

Community Food Share

$2,000 LCF Community Grants

Staff Development

Help with costs to send staff to national conference in Vail, CO in July 2007.

Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley

$1,000 LCF Community Grants Fund and The Howard and Mary Allen Fund

Staff Development

This grant supports an opportunity for teambuilding as an outlet for stress through the Women’s Wilderness Institute.

St. Vrain Family Center

$1,010 LCF Community Grants Fund

Staff Development and Technology

This grant will purchase new software for recordkeeping and train staff to use the new data and tracking system. 

Tiny Tim Center

$3,000 Raymond and Mildred Sarchet Family Fund, The Charles and Carol Miller Family Fund and The Ken and Karen Kanemoto Family Fund

Staff Development

This grant is in support of efforts to receive accreditation status through the National Association for the Education of Young Children. 

YMCA

Funding will support Conversational Spanish lessons for all staff on an expanded and ongoing basis.

Longmont Ending Violence Initiative (LEVI)

Funds for this effort will go toward brochures, speaking engagements, website and a clearing house phone line to keep our community informed and up to date on domestic violence.

Senior Corps (R.S.V.P)

$1,000 from the Howard and Mary Allen Fund and the Charles and Carol Miller Family Fund

Public Awareness

Money from this grant will go toward recruiting, training and placing Longmont volunteers in assisting homebound seniors and disabled adults through the Safety Net Program.

Longmont Chorale

$1,000 Connie Coffield and Ed Lehman Community Cares Fund

Public Awareness

Funds to produce a brochure and increase public awareness of performances throughout the year.

Addiction Treatment Center

$2,000 Thomas P. and Betty Lou Brock Fund and The McCarty Charitable Fund

Funds to be used for the design, printing and distribution of new brochure detailing Addiction Treatment Center services.

Longmont Meals On Wheels

These funds will be used for informational and solicitation mailings to targeted audiences and polishing printed materials. 

St. Vrain Historical Society

This will provide funding for website development and membership brochure.

Boulder Shelter for the Homeless

$2,000 LCF Community Grants Fund

These funds are for the development of an educational video about the shelter.  

Access Counseling

Public Awareness

This grant will be used to hire professional design and marketing services to increase public awareness of mental health services and needs in the Longmont area.

Dental Aid

To produce materials for the Children’s Dental Prevention Program including education and oral screening for children. 

Artwalk Longmont

Public Awareness

Promote downtown art events to Longmont and Tri Town areas with brochures, ads and mailings.

Boulder County AIDS Project

Public Awareness

This grant is to promote it’s the new BCAP presence in the Longmont community and educating parents and youth about risks of HIV and AIDS.  

Eco Cycle

$500 the St. Vrain Conservation Fund

Public Awareness

Pilot outreach program to Spanish speaking residents educating them about recycling.

Hospice of Boulder and Broomfield Counties

These dollars will be used to host events in the Longmont area to inform the public about compassionate end of life care available through hospice care and to inform them of the new Longmont office

The Inn Between

This grant will be used to redesign and produce the Inn’s annual report which will also be used as their solicitation piece for clients and donors. 

Radio Reading Service of the Rockies

This grant provides for advertising the available services to seniors and those with impaired vision.

Teaching Peace

$1,000 grant from The Lehman Fund

To increase awareness of the work to reduce juvenile crime and promote civility through print media and speaking engagements.

Chosen by other non-profits through the St. Vrain Community Council and given special recognition by the council and a $500 grant from The Longmont Community Foundation.
